Canada is the next country to host the International AIDS Conference. It will take place from July 29 to August 2, 2022, in Montreal, a city rich in culture and language with French as the official language.

This international conference is organised every two years by the International AIDS Society and the 2022 edition will be presented in a hybrid format with both virtual and physical programming to facilitate access to more people.

Usually, each edition has the participation of more than 20,000 delegates from 160 countries, including 800 journalists. Among the participants are people living with HIV, human rights defenders, civil society organisations, researchers, civil servants, ministers, representatives of international organisations, and the private sector.

AIDS 2022 brings together the scientific world, decision-makers, and communities in Montreal to engage together in the scientific dynamic. The assembly will aim to define future research programs and transformational strategies relating to the latest data without forgetting the elaboration of a new consensus in the fight against the HIV epidemic and eradicate such threats to public health and individual well-being.

The AIDS 2022 Conference will be held under the theme: "Re-engage and follow the science"

A global meeting for specialists in the field, researchers, and caregivers to decide on HIV and the progress made in treatments.

A notorious opportunity for Canada to present its results and progress in the response to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. To be able to show the world their record against the global goals.

Canada, the organising country, has very specific objectives, namely:

  • Increase awareness of best practices, effective interventions, and achievements in the fight against HIV and other STBBIs in Canada.

  • Showcase community innovation and the community response to HIV and other STBBIs in Canada.

  • Strengthen Canada's mobilisation and leadership in the global context related to HIV and other STBBIs by providing scholarships to attend the AIDS 2022 Conference.

The importance of this conference

How the international community should support and assist developing countries with care and prevention even if the countries have recorded notorious advances in the fight against HIV/Aids. Nevertheless, there are always challenges to be met in support and prevention.
